Are you looking to gain experience teaching or use your teaching experience?

Join the valued School Programs volunteer team and guide science and natural history school experiences! Volunteers have the opportunity to work along side Museum educators as they lead structured school programs covering topics like geology, anthropology, the ocean, paleontology, and collections.

Harness your science interests and hone your teaching skills as you inspire the next generation of scientists.


18 or older

Must pass a Smithsonian Background investigation


Commit to 1 year at 96 hours (8 hours per month)

Shifts are Monday-Friday 9:30am-1:30pm


Attend all training sessions from 9/17-9/20(4 days)

Must attend a three hour Museum orientation on 9/10, 9/15, or 10/6
