National Air and Space Aerospace Educator @ the Udvar-Hazy Center

OVERVIEW:

Aerospace Educators interact with visiting students by facilitating educational and engaging activities based on age-appropriate content. The aerospace educator should have an appreciation of air and space-related concepts, but more importantly, must have a desire to share knowledge and foster the love of learning within people of all ages. This volunteer position occurs on weekdays from September to May, and requires public speaking and some knowledge of teaching; any past education or public speaking experience is helpful but not necessary. Exact responsibilities will vary by location (National Mall Building or Udvar-Hazy Center). All volunteers must be at least 25 years of age, and pass a background check. REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Individuals should be comfortable speaking in front of large student groups grades K-12. Former teaching experience is preferable but not required. The one requirement is that individuals who apply must have a passion for igniting interest in students while making air and space concepts relate-able to current events and standards.

Applicants are required to:

- Applicants must be able to pass a background check

- Applicants must be older than 25 year of age

- Basic computer skills

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

Aerospace Educators dedicate a one day a week to teach two classes. One class at 10:15 am and another at 11:30 am

TRAINING.

We will train you on all of the content, and only place you in a class when you are comfortable with the content.
